Main Structure and Performance Features
It’s a kind of productive CNC cylindrical grinder of high automatic degree and high precision. The machine is suitable for large batched machining, and it can complete the multiple cylindrical grinding with a single setup, mainly used to grind journal of the parts.
Part I Mechanical Part
1. FANUC/SIEMENS CNC system is used. The motor and ball screw are connected directly. The AC servo motor is with position encoder. Supporting bearing of ball screw is made by NSK. Connection between ball screw and working table is of flexible structure, which can eliminate effect caused by vibration and error happens in the process of assembling. Automatic grinding circulation with one clamping and measuring gauge control can be realized. Automatic transforming of grinding program and dressing program can be realized. The machine is with the function of manual clamping, single operating and CNC automatic grinding circulation. Grinding beat can be adjusted.
2. The machine is with fully protective cover with front sliding door and window. Self-locking function ensures that the sliding door can’t be opened during working. Electric lock opens automatically after running of program is finished. Protective door of manual control is easy to open and close. Before opening protective door, cooling system must be off after stopping of the machine.
3. Grinding wheel spindle uses exclusive hydrodynamic and hydro-static bearing spindle system of high loading capability and high rotating precision. Material of grinding wheel spindle is 38CrMoA1, and through nutrient treatment, the hardness can reach HV900. Therefore the spindle is of long life and good precision capacity. The wheel head spindle is driven by 3-phase AC motor, and linear speed of grinding wheel is 45m/s. Constant speed of wheel head spindle is realized by imported frequency converter. Overloading protecting device is used; the grinding carriage can withdraw automatically if overload grinding happens. Separate oil supplying unit is available, temperature controlling is equipped.
4. Guide way of both X axis and Z axis uses plastic-coated which reduce the coefficient of friction and vibration and promote the stability of running and improves machine performance. Automatic lubricating way is adopted. Grease is used for lubricating of ball screw and its supporting bearing.
5. The work head spindle is fixed and with good rigidity, and high precision. Work head driving plate uses 3-phase AC motor and imported frequency is employed to realize indefinite variable speed adjusting. The rotating speed can be set within the scope of 20-200r/min. The bearings are made by NSK.
6. Sleeve tailstock adopts hydraulic driving mode, and the travel of sleeve is 70mm.The components are easy to change and the sleeve uses automatic lubrication. If work piece is not properly fixed, signals will be sent, the CNC program will be prevented.
7. Front located diamond dressing is employed. The dresser is fixed in the back of work head stock. Through linkage working of X and Z axis, it can realize auto dressing of grinding wheel. Automatic compensation function is available, when diameter of grinding wheel goes to the smallest, automatic alarming happens and the machine stops.
8. Two-layer worktable structure is employed and taper adjustment is available. Adjustable supporter is fixed on the working table which makes it easy for work piece loading and unloading.
9. Hydraulic components are of high quality. Driving action is rapid and reliable, and no oil leaking happens in circuits and controlling valves. Designing of hydraulic system meets national standard. Hydraulic pump is fixed above oil tank which makes it easy for replacing and maintaining.
10. Emulsion is used for cooling, and the cooling system adopts independent workpiece cooling and machine bed flushing device. And the cooling device is equipped with filter unit, taking magnetic and paper filtering type. The filter fineness is less than 20μm. The tank separately locates in the back of the machine. Level indicator is fixed on water tank.
11. Radial in-process gauge and axial positioner can be equipped on the machine, which can realize the radial in-process measuring and axial positioning in the grinding. Radial gauge is fixed on the working table and driven by cylinder. Loop-locked grinding circulation controlled by measuring gauge is carried out. Dimensional precision and accuracy of position precision, consistency are ensured. And axial positioner is mounted on the grinding head and driven by hydraulic. With the coordination of Z axis, axial positioning can be carried out.
Part II Electric Control System
It meets national standard GB5226.1-2002 except special explanations.
1. FANUC/SIEMENS CNC system and servo motor are adopted.
2. Main electric components (buttons and switches) are imported or products of joint adventure.
3. The 8.4 inch color LED displayer is employed with displaying of Chinese and English.
4. Stand alone electric cabinet is employed, which is connected to the main machine. The operating box is fixed on up right of the guard in front of the machine. Working lamp and 220V power socket are available. Temperature controller is supplied with electric cabinet.
5. Manual feeding of X and Z axis can be adopted by hand controller.
6. Three-color indicating light is used for indicating working conditions of machine
Green: working; yellow: adjusting; Red: abnormal
7. PLC ladder diagram can be adjusted and displayed through operating panel.

A grinding machine, often shortened to grinder, is any of various power tools or machine tools used for grinding, which is a type of machining using an abrasive wheel as the cutting tool. Each grain of abrasive on the wheel's surface cuts a small chip from the workpiece via shear deformation.
Grinding is used to finish workpieces that must show high surface quality (e.g., low surface roughness) and high accuracy of shape and dimension. As the accuracy in dimensions in grinding is of the order of 0.000025 mm, in most applications it tends to be a finishing operation and removes comparatively little metal, about 0.25 to 0.50 mm depth. However, there are some roughing applications in which grinding removes high volumes of metal quite rapidly. Thus, grinding is a diverse field.
Overview
The grinding machine consists of a bed with a fixture to guide and hold the work piece, and a power-driven grinding wheel spinning at the required speed. The speed is determined by the wheel’s diameter and manufacturer’s rating. The grinding head can travel across a fixed work piece, or the work piece can be moved while the grind head stays in a fixed position.
Fine control of the grinding head or table position is possible using a vernier calibrated hand wheel, or using the features of numerical controls.
Grinding machines remove material from the work piece by abrasion, which can generate substantial amounts of heat. To cool the work piece so that it does not overheat and go outside its tolerance, grinding machines incorporate a coolant. The coolant also benefits the machinist as the heat generated may cause burns. In high-precision grinding machines (most cylindrical and surface grinders), the final grinding stages are usually set up so that they remove about 200 nm (less than 1/10000 in) per pass - this generates so little heat that even with no coolant, the temperature rise is negligible.
